Byzantine Terracotta Decorated Oil Lamp

C. 5th – 8th century AD

A nice Byzantine (late Roman) terracotta oil lamp decorated with pellets between raised ribs to the shoulders and a concentric circle and raised ribs to the base.

Some slight surface deposits with good detail and intact.

Provenance: Oxford gentleman’s Collection. This gentleman acquired a large collection of Roman artefacts over forty years.
