A piece of meteorite fragment from the Campo Del Cielo in Argentina, restrung on black cord.

The meteorite was first recorded in 1576 in the Campo del Cielo, about 1000 km northwest of Buenos Aires, Argentina, between the provinces of Chaco and Santiago del Estero. The crater field covers an area of 3km x 20km and contains approximately 26 craters, the largest measuring 115m x 91m. There was a large number of iron meteorites recovered from the area, total weight exceeding 100 tonnes. The craters are estimated to be as old as 4000 to 5000 years old.

Nice fragment covered by some regmaglypts, caused by severe melting during the meteorites descent through the Earth’s atmosphere.
