Decorated Nabataean Red Terracotta Ribbed Jug. VERY RARE

C. 3rd-1st century BC

A nice example of a red Nabatean single handle jug, with a slightly ribbed body, short tapered neck. It is beautifully decorated with floral and foliage patterns in black pigment, with a smooth matte finish.

Detail a little weak with a few surface marks, otherwise in excellent condition with some light earthy surface deposits. Extremely rare.

Provenance: Acquired prior to 1988. From an important deceased gentleman’s collection, by descent.
