Egyptian Banded Alabaster Mace Head

C. 3500-3000 BC – Pre-Dynastic

An interesting piriform alabaster mace head with a cylindrical drill hole in the centre for the wooden shaft. This round or “piriform” mace head replaced the disk-type mace during the Naqada II period of Pre-Dynastic Egypt and was used throughout Egypt and the Levante.

In excellent condition with typical surface marks and intact.
