Egyptian Steatite Figure of Harpocrates Holding Lotus Flower

Item Description

C. 664-332 BC – Late Period

A nice example of a carved steatite statuette of the nude god Harpocrates, with a side lock. He wears a sun disc headdress with a uraeus in the front and holds a lotus flower, symbolising rebirth.

Although one arm is missing and repair to base, it is nicely carved and of a nice size.

Provenance: Ex N. Thomas Collection, collected in the 1980’s to 1990’s.
