Egyptian Steatite Hyksos Period Scarab
Item Description
C. 1663-1555 BC – Hyksos Period
A steatite scarab amulet with detailed carvings of anatomical features, to the sides grooves, representing the legs of the beetle. It is also pierced longitudinally for suspension.
The engravings to base, featuring two crowned figures with a basket sign ‘nb’ below, meaning ‘Lord.
Slight chips to back with carvings to base.
Provenance: Ex N. Thomas Collection, collected in the 1980’s-1990’s.
