Egyptian Steatite Scarab Amulet With Pseudo Cartouche
Item Description
C. 1782-1570 BC – Second Intermediate Period
A very nice steatite scarab amulet with detailed carvings of anatomical features and linear detail to the sides, representing the legs of the beetle. It is also pierced longitudinally for suspension.
The engravings to base, feature hieroglyphs of a sun disc below and raised arms sign ‘ka’ to the left. It also features a uraeus to the right with a pseudo cartouche to the left with a basket sign ‘nb’, meaning ‘Lord below, and other various hieroglyphs.
Intact with minor nick to back otherwise and in good condition with clear carvings and hieroglyphs.
Provenance: Ex N. Thomas Collection, collected in the 1980’s-1990’s.
