Greek South Italian Terracotta Red-Figure Trefoil Oinochoe

C. 3rd century BC
A fine example of a South Italian Oinochoe featuring a trefoil lip, an elongated neck and an oblong body. It has a tall, ribbed handle which protrudes above the mouth to the shoulder, forming a hook over the vessel. The neck is decorated with white painted radiating bars leading down to a beautifully decorated body, depicting a lady of fashion. Her hair dressed in a kekryphalos and radiate stephane, wearing earrings and a beaded necklace, with a palmette under the handle.
Minor nicks to surfaces otherwise in excellent condition with strong colour and fine detail.
