Greek Terracotta Gnathian Skyphos
C. 4th century BC
A fine Gnathian twin handled black glazed skyphos with bands of white ovolo decoration and pale orange dots, with a grapevine and trendil motif in orange and white slip. The other side depicts two incised bands between white and orange painted dots.
The name Gnathian ware comes from the city of Gnathia which it is named after.
Intact with good strong colour and excellent detail.
