Medieval Framed Mirror of The Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) Pendant
Item Description
C. 15th century
An interesting framed mirror of the image of The Agnus Dei, a Latin expression, which means “Lamb of God”. The most familiar of the emblems of Christ, where John the Baptist sees Jesus and exclaims, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” The scene depicts the Lamb looking backwards and holding a cross, within a beaded frame.
Frame slightly misshapen and small amount of mirror missing, otherwise a very interesting piece with good detail.
Provenance: European collection.
Size: H: 32mm x W: 16mm
