Medieval Pewter Pilgrim Badge Fragment of An Ostrich-Feather of the Black Prince
Item Description
C. 14th century
A pewter pilgrim badge fragment of an ostrich-feather associated with the Black Prince, with the tip bent over to the right and a knop at the base of the feather. There would have been a scroll at the base of the quill bearing the name of the Black Prince’s motto, “ich dene”, which is Flemish for “I serve”.
Although a damaged, it is of a large size with fine detail and original pin intact.
