Medieval Pilgrim Pewter Badge of Henry VI

Item Description

C. 14th century

A pewter pilgrim badge of Henry VI, the last monarch of the Lancastrian dynasty, who was put to death in the Tower of London by King Edward IV in 1471.

He is depicted wearing a crown, robe, a broad belt and a caped hood (laying over the shoulders and often looking like a rolled or stand-up collar). He would have held an orb in his left hand and a long sceptre in his right, tipped with a fleur-de-lys. At his feel, The King is shown to have a the lion of England at his feet.

Although a little damaged, it is a nice example with good clear detail and original pin intact.
