Our Lady’s Shrine Medieval Pewter Pilgrim Badge
Item Description
C. 15th century
A pewter pilgrim badge surmounted by three crosses and depicting Madonna and child, with raised criss-cross pattern to reverse. There are four stitching-rings, one in each corner to be sewn onto a piece of clothing. Pilgrims would have worn these badges on their hat or cloak and worn to gain the Saint’s protection and as proof of pilgrimage.
Slightly perforated otherwise intact and with good surfaces.
