The name Priscacara means “primitive head” and have been found to up to 375mm in length. These fish lived in freshwater lakes and streams and comes from one of the world’s famous Laggerstatten, the Green River Formation in Wyoming, USA. It has a deep, oval body with protective dorsal & anal spines, a large mouth with an impressive array of teeth and a fan shaped tail. Its lower jaw is slightly upturned and protrudes.
