Roman Bronze Enamelled Openwork Disc Brooch
Item Description
C. 2nd century AD
A nice example of a Roman bronze openwork disc brooch, with six peripheral lugs around the edge, and a quatrefoil to the centre inlaid with dark blue enamel. The outer circle comprises of ovolo decoration inlaid with dark blue and black enamel.
Minor chip to edge otherwise intact and in excellent condition with the majority of enamel still remining and original pin still intact.
Provenance: Manchester Collection, collected in the 1990’s.
