Roman North African Terracotta Oil Lamp With Gladiator & Lion
C. 4th-5th century AD
A nice example of North African redware oil lamp depicting with a gladiator attacking lion with spear, to central discus. The shouders are decorated with geometric patterns, consisting of concentric circles. It also has a lug handle and canal nozzle, with concentric circles to base.
Small chip to handle and has been waxed by previous collector. Intact with super detail and a RARE TYPE.
Provenance: Ex A. B. Collection, collected in the 1980’s to 1990’s.
