Roman Terracotta Oil Lamp Depicting Scallop Shell & Maker’s Mark

Item Description

C. 1st century AD

A nice Roman oil lamp depicting a scallop shell to central discus, within an incised border and a voluted nozzle.  The base of the nozzle is decorated with a palm frond and maker’s mark to base of a sandal.

Small chip to edge otherwise intact with good detail.
