Roman Terracotta Oil Lamp of Dolphin With Makers Mark
Item Description
C. 1st-2nd century AD
A nice example of a Roman oil lamp decorated with a dolphin in front of a rudder to central discus. It has a pierced loop handle to the back with incised linear patterns, and a rounded nozzle which is separated from the discus by a horizontal line, flanked by two dots. There is a retrograde makers mark to base which read, “ERONIM”.
Small nick to edge and in good condition, with strong colour and good detail.
