Roman Terracotta Oil Lamp With Interesting Makers’ Inscription
Item Description
C. 2nd Century AD
An interesting Roman grey coloured terracotta oil lamp with a six petalled rosette to central discus, with incised radiating bars to shoulders. It has a pierced loop handled with inscription to base of potters name in four lines reading, “SICV/RIOA/MAVT/LA”.
Intact and a very good condition with interesting makers’ inscription.
