SCARCE Dark Ages Iron Prick Spur Decorated With Ten Silver Stud Inlays
C. 9th – 11th century
A nice example of an iron prick spur decorated with silver stud inlays. At the base of the shank is a loop finial which leads down to D-section arms.
Spurs would have been worn by both men and women and were used for military as well as civilian purposes.
Cleaned, conserved and intact with uneven surfaces. Interesting piece.
Provenance: Ex B. Posey Collection.
Size: 176mm length
