Roman Bronze Zoomorphic Enamelled Lion Brooch

Item Description

C. 2nd century AD

A bronze zoomorphic brooch in the form of a lion, with a traces of blue and red enamel to the body and some traces of orange enamel to the eye.

In ancient Greece and in the Roman empire, brooches and fibulae would have been used to fasten garments, like togae or cloaks.

Although pin is missing, it is a good example with some traces of enamel remaining.
