Item Description

C. 2040-1782 BC – Middle Kingdom

An Egyptian Lapis Lazuli scarab beetle with some incised detail and pierced through the centre for suspension. In Ancient Egypt the scarab beetle represents the sun god, Ra and is also a symbol of rebirth and regeneration.

Minor nick to base with some light earthy surface deposits, strong colour and good detail.
