Amethyst is a violet macrocrystalline variety of the mineral Quartz, as the size of the individual grains or crystals are distinguishable with the naked eye.  Quartz makes up approximately 12% of the earth’s crust and is the most abundant single mineral on earth.

Amethyst is said to have some healing properties and a soothing and relaxing effect. It is also thought to be an aid for clearing negative energy and promotes healthy sleep habits.

Although there are some hairline cracks following the structure of the rock it is a nice example with good strong colour.
